Great Man-Made Wonders

by Nike Miller

While the human race may have populated the world with a multitude of unsightly and aesthetically displeasing features, there are still a variety of buildings, structures, and man-made creations that are beautiful and magnificent. From giant pyramids built in ancient times to modern skyscrapers erected recently, each has its own unique nature in the world, and all have a cultural impact on the surrounding society. Here is a list of incredible man-made wonders that dazzle individuals all over the world.

Pyramids of Giza

One of the most famous man-made wonders, the Pyramid of Giza is truly a sight to see. Consisting of three different major pyramids, this collection of structures juts out over the city of Giza, one of the suburbs of bustling Cairo in Egypt. But these magnificent piles of rock aren’t solely there to stun the tourists that visit each year. Originally built as tombs for the pharaohs of ancient Egypt, the Pyramids act as a last connection to an ancient culture that has all but disappeared.

Burj Khalifa

Seen as a symbol of mankind’s perseverance and tenacity, the Burj Khalifa skyscraper remains the tallest building in the world as of 2013. At over 2,700 feet tall, the Burj Khalifa towers over the rest of Dubai, a popular city in the United Arab Emirates. This wonder also contains the world’s highest swimming pool and the world’s highest mosque.

But beyond the building’s height and lavish attractions, the Burj Khalifa is a clear status symbol and a representation of the enormous wealth of the residents of Dubai.

Empire State Building

Aside from the Statue of Liberty, nothing represents the powerful American spirit more than the towering Empire State Building. Completed in 1931, the Empire State Building was once known as the tallest building in the world, and it kept this status for over 35 years. It was also the first structure to contain over 100 floors. It is also a standout feature of the New York City skyline

As well as being an icon of the American dream, the Empire State Building has also appeared in a variety of different media, highlighting it as an absolute must-see attraction for anyone visiting New York City.

Taj Mahal

It is impossible to mention the wonders of India without conjuring up images of this collection of beautiful white domes. Originally constructed as a mausoleum in the 17th century, the Taj Mahal has come to represent the brilliant architecture and mystical spirit of the entire Indian nation.

But while this giant building may be seen by most western nations as simply a lavish display of wealth by the ruling elite of an ancient age, it remains one of the most incredible pieces of architecture built in the Mughal era, a time that has largely been forgotten in other realms of art and culture.

Beautiful Structures Around the World

Even though nature has created some of the most remarkable works of beauty that exist in the world, mankind has created its fair share of wonderful masterpieces. And as mankind’s existence continues, these wonders will go down in history as some of the most incredible structures ever built.
