Patrick Jane has a unique ability he uses to aid the California Bureau of Investigation as an independent consultant. He worked for them for many years. He has the reputation of using unorthodox methods to successfully solve crimes. Being a former psychic coupled with his extraordinary powers of observation skills, and expert insight into human behavior; takes him on a whirlwind of adventure. Not only does he solve crimes with flawless precision; he has another agenda which propels his mission. Unbeknownst to the CBI department he is employed by, Patrick uses his connection with the department to find the serial killer who murdered his beloved wife and daughter. Before Patrick joined the FBI he was a con man, he scammed people acting like a psychic medium. At the height of his success he tells a lie which angers a serial killer named Red John. In retaliation to that lie Red John mercilessly murdered Patrick’s wife and daughter. The Mentalist (http://watchseries.lt/serie/the_mentalist) is determined to track “Red John” and bring him to justice.
An unfortunate strange turn of events causes the dismantling of the CBI team and he goes to Mexico. Patrick cuts a deal with the FBI to return to his former position as consultant. They need his powers of observation; in the midst of the negotiations he obtains jobs for his two associates Special Agent Teresa Lisbon and Kimball Cho. I find this show to be very interesting, you will find yourself constantly trying to figure out the “who, what, when, and why” when it comes to how he solves these crimes. His two sidekicks add to the pot as well and even they are at times baffled as to how Patrick does what he does.
The story plot in this series was well crafted. Usually these kinds of shows are predictable the mentalist is surprisingly mysterious. The story line keeps you on your toes, the journey you take watching is well worth the time spent. I was kind of let down at one of the reveals in the show, that is how invested in these characters you will find yourself. This show gives you mellow drama, action, flirtation with the supernatural, all things to keep you captivated. It’s a very eclectic show I love the unique concept. I was quite shocked I was even going to like it. At first glance I wasn’t sure if the show would keep my attention. I was wrong.
I was quite intrigued at the plot and the characters. The dynamic between Patrick and Special Agent Teresa Lisbon, it’s interesting to watch their relationship grown and unfold. A little comedy was thrown in as well but the show is overall serious. I have added it to my television watching rotation. The show is very creative as well as attractive to the super sleuth in all of us. I certainly do love a good mystery, and this show gives you all that and then some.
